Welcome to Hebron Haven Hotel - where history,

A Dargle Legacy
The story of Hebron Haven begins in 1849, when
Carl Preller received a land grant concession for early
settlers.
Legend has it that Preller, wary of his idle sons, buried
boxes of gold on the property before his untimely
death in 1870, having fallen from his horse. Though
the treasure’s location was never revealed, a box of
coins was reportedly discovered during the tarring of
the Dargle road—adding mystery to the myth.
Preller is said to have sold the farm to a Mr. Boschoff
for a bottle of whisky. Years later, around 1920, it
came into the hands of Colonel Gardener. Given its
strategic position on the main route to the gold fields,
Hebron became a stopover for travelling lumbermen.
Guests once camped beside their wagons, with only
the original homestead standing.
Renovation & Revival
Today, Hebron Haven has been lovingly restored and
re-imagined. The hotel now offers a blend of historic
charm and modern comfort. Suites and rooms feature
fine finishes, quality linen, and thoughtful touches,
designed to help you slow down and unwind.

décor and modern amenities
• Garden Rooms (thatch roof) – cosy and authentic

• Garden Family Rooms – ideal for families with
children, including loft bed options
• Stable Rooms (single & double) – rustic charm with
comfortable fittings
Each room features king or twin beds, quality linen,
heaters or electric blankets, and access to the
expansive country garden and river walks.
The main house hosts a firelit lounge perfect for
reading, resting, or enjoying a quiet drink. Our
restaurant and bar, @Hebron, is the hotel’s vibrant
heart—where guests arrive as strangers and leave as
friends.
The pub, remains a favourite gathering spot, especially
on Locals’ Nights (Thursdays & Fridays). Expect live
music, festive roasts, and much laughter and revelry!
