Honey & the Hive.
On 1 March 2021, Matt & Phil realized a
dream that had been about 4 years in the
making and opened their shop Honey &
the Hive. The father & son team has been
astounded by the level of local support they
have had from the Hilton and the surrounding
communities.
Our customers began with buying the
selection of bottled honeys and now we
have a steady stream of regulars refilling
their jars and buckets from the fabulous
eucalyptus honey in the urn. We keep the
honey from Matt & Phil's hives : Eucalyptus,
Multiflora (great if you are baking with honey Their beekeeping combined with an avid
as it keeps the honey flavour beautifully in
the oven) and Macadamia honey, as well
as seasonal specialties.
Of course no honey shop can be without
the delicious Creamed Eucalyptus honey
– no added ingredients just pure honey
pleasure.! Though if you need a real treat
our Honey butter is sinfully addictive !
It almost goes without saying that all our
honey is traceable back to the apiary site
it came from so all the honey is absolutely
reliably Just Honey !
The opening of the shop and bringing
the Beekeeping equipment from the
workshop: Hives, unassembled hives,
frames Coverall's, smokers and all the other
beekeeping paraphernalia needed and
into the public domain has shown what an
amazing interest in hives and beekeeping
there is in Hilton, Hillcrest and the
surrounds. The Midlands is abuzz with hive
and beekeepers from the one hive hobbyist
to the small commercial beekeepers and
beyond.
We do get a variety of honeys in from the
Western Cape; Lucern, Fynbos, and others

available as supplies are in season.
Adding value to the shop is our large range
of Simply Bee products with soaps and
face creams, hair products and even lotions
for men and the baby in the family. We also
offer beekeeping courses throughout the
year.
Phil & Matt Walker are a father and son
team who have been working together as
commercial beekeepers in KwaZulu-Natal
for the past 15 years. Together they offer
professional pollination and consulting
services, on top of producing some of the
finest honey in the country.

experience they have adapted the “old
school” Langstroth type, bee hive and
frames to produce a far more durable and
beekeeper friendly products, set to far
outlast other products.
Through a common interest in bees, and
the beekeeping industry as a whole,
Beekeepers World was launched in early
2016. Our goal as a company is to supply the
highest quality bee hives, aparian equipment
and honey to the Southern African market.
We strive to impart as much hard learned
knowledge with any persons interested in
bees and beekeeping, be they commercial
growers or hobbyist beekeepers.
